What does AI technical analysis do?
Technical analysis studies price and trading volume. AI can help explain the chart, compare evidence and identify risks. It cannot know the next price or turn a chart pattern into a promise of profit.
PatternLedger's AI Ticker Review examines chart evidence such as trend, support, resistance and momentum. Support and resistance are price areas where buying or selling may affect a move. The review describes a possible setup and what would make it fail.
A screener and an AI review answer different questions
| Tool | Question it helps answer |
|---|---|
| Signal Desk | Which saved stock patterns match my market and timeframe? |
| AI Ticker Review | What does the chart evidence suggest, and what could go wrong? |
| Backtests | What happened when today's pattern rules were applied to past prices? |
| Trade journal | What happened to entries recorded under the journal's rules? |
Check the date before the verdict
Check the market, ticker, company name and displayed data date. A review based on an earlier close cannot explain a later price move. The review date and the last price date can differ.
For example, if a review uses Monday's closing data, Tuesday's news is outside that price record. This is a made-up example of timing, not a trade suggestion.
Free board previews have a three-exchange-session delay. Weekends and exchange holidays are not sessions. Listing coverage, current-price coverage and completed scans measure different things. An updated tracked list does not prove that every listed stock is included.
How to check an AI stock chart review
- Start with a Daily or Weekly candidate, or choose a ticker for review.
- Confirm the market and data date. Read any warning about missing or old data.
- Compare the explanation with the chart. Check the trend, key price areas and the point where the setup fails.
- Read matching backtest evidence and its sample size. Keep it separate from saved journal results.
- Check costs and current prices independently before making your own decision.
What the scores and results cannot prove
A research score helps order candidates. It is not a probability of profit. AI output can be wrong even when its explanation sounds clear.
Backtests use past prices and assumed entries and exits. They are not your broker's fills. PatternLedger's backtest and journal returns exclude trading costs, including fees and slippage. Slippage is the difference between an assumed price and an actual fill.
An on-demand ticker review does not automatically enter a trade in the journal or change the scanner's ranking. PatternLedger is a research website, not an automatic order service or an intraday trading feed.
